The change is inevitable, the winds of change have started blowing, yet somewhere I feel, is it possible? Possible to change the mindset? Possible to infuse a new dictum?
Is it even remotely possible to change a 3 decade long ideology, by just winning seats in the Assembly House.
Socialism has spread equal poverty, but it also has prevented unequal riches, in todays Kolkata, a man can survive for a teeny weeny amount, without compromising on basic needs, but can the new government support that.
Yes, the lady leading, is honest, what she has achieved is commendable, almost single handedly scripting the decline of the Red Empire, but somewhere Bengal is so obsessed with the attitude of socialism that somewhere this might lead to a terrible withdrawal effect.
The "Right", if I may call it, might think, that walking into an office and proving efficiency is easy, but they are forgetting, that every new blood infused, will still be working under those, who have been scarred by the RED for life.
The biggest problem in this years polls, assuming that the Left does lose way, would be the fact that it wouldn't be a victory of the Opposition, but a defeat of our Great Dictators.
The masses are fed up, so they want a change, but somewhere, that change is perhaps the weakest link, in the Green Chain.
The change, needs to be prominent, which is not possible, in 5 years, so then, how do they make the people stick with them, rather than, going for the safer option ?
The Assembly wouldn't be an easy place, with a few dozen, hardcore communists, sitting on the opposition benches, and perhaps that would the biggest challenge for the Green Brigade.
Painting the Writers Building green, is not good enough, neither is making a few new stations with obscure nomenclature, what is necessary, is to de-establish the attitude, the vanity, which runs in the veins of the majority of Bengal.
Yes, the public opinion has changed, the outlook has changed, for all those who would argue, its not the same, but thats not majority.
From a bus driver, to a rickshaw puller, they all live and die for their UNION, yes, a sense embedded deep in their genes, to an extent of being irrevocable.
What the Trinamul means, is good, a new era, a new idea, all sound good on paper, but the problem is even then, the papers would be signed by the truest of red bloods.
CPM is losing out because of Public Obhimaan, not because of Raag/APATHY, as we Bengali call it, and that's perhaps the point that Our Soul Sister needs to realize.
That somewhere Obhimaan, is temporal, and people always give them a second chance. The love/fights all can be attributed to a long romantic relation, which has turned bitter, over the years, but somewhere the loyalty has not changed, and it wont, if the new partner doesn't provide, that extra bit of love and care, The Green Cant Be Just Good, they need to be BETTER, and in a very big way, only then perhaps the loyalty will change for real, till then, we can just pray, that caught between the devil and the vast green rain forest, WE DO NOT LOSE OUR WAY...SHINE ON....KOLKATA
