Its is very weird that there are certain things in life, which tastes good in small bites, Have a bigger bite and the feel good factor vanishes altogether... Presidency College or Rather University as it is now, is one of premium bodies of academic excellence in the country. A perfect concoction of liberal rules, friendly scholars and a vast campus that willingly embraces all and sundry who pay a visit... Making them feel at home, and welcome to be a part of a giant family of brilliance, culture and definitely the spirit of being part of a heritage site in the city...Now some might just feel that being an outsider myself, why am I praising presi so much?Specially with Xaviers being my Alma Mater, and the only rival of presi worth mentioning, in its status of a premium college in this City of Joy, it might seem that i am not doing the obvious," TAKING SIDES" .However for me Presi has been like a dream neighbour. The sense of warmth in its formality is way more explicit than perhaps more visual and vivid displays of affection...The experience was surely a journey worth remembering for just the right reasons...I do not know her name, but DEEDEE, As rai calls her was also someone whose company i loved during my short stint in the college...Every visit is not as eventful ... But some surely are.  One on ,my best friend Mani's birthday and second on Sam's birthday and not to forget yesterdays visit,  are certainly days i would remember very well for a long long time...I am not here to talk about the events, so not going into details, i must mention a few points... Lets have it as 5point something on My Experiences In Presi...

1. I never felt so much at home in any other institute other than ones I belonged to.....

2.Its jinxed, I had a fight with Rai, on twelve out of fifteen visits I went to Presi. On perhaps the stupidest issues men can think of.

3. The stairway of Main Building reminded me of the Stairway to Heaven, except the fact that once i climbed up,and it became a reason of a feudal war with Rai...

4. Its not often that you sing christmas carol with friends sitting in a canteen filled with people in the weirdest tune possible yet extracting a world of joy :) (We were singing Joy To The World, with Tunir Ma as a filler)

5.0. Its not often that cold drinks are addressed by complexion rather than taste :)

5.1. Its not often when you are in dilemma of choosing your company... Having two closest friends on opposite sides

5.2.Its not often that you feel lost amidst your closest friends... For moment (read comment) of two...

5.25. Its not often that you discuss HanCOCK and THE Third Nipple with the same person and yet not get to be Will Smith :)

5.3. Its not often that you sit on the roof and muse over the contents of a far lying bottle, believing in legends of pee and poo...

5.4. Its not that people who hardly know for a few days notice you not wearing glasses, and welcome you with warm smiles and greetings ,when time trusted friends overlook.Thank You Aritri, Puja and Sean !

5.5 Its not often you see such an amazing senior junior bonding from day one! Specially for me being a part of an engineering college...Thank you DeeDee..

5.5. Its not often when you can read the most amazing one liners in a dining hall... or the fantastic display of softer human emotions by helping out an old woman, by buyin all the stationary she sells each week...

5.6. Its not often when a stranger from the english department is hit by swine flu by the mere presence of a Xaverian.

5.7 Its not often when a visit to paramount seems so unlikely because of a civil war.Sorry Patralekha...

5.8. Its not often when your friend does not attend a single class just to give you company. Thank you Sam and Rai.

5.9. Its not often that you are chased by metro authorities for monkey business in the station...Or contemplate on sweet methods of suicide... By a Kiss Of Death

5.10. Its not often that that you make friends so easily so as to decide their dress code and plan out walks in the rain

5.11. Its not often when you feel at ease with almost any acquaintance around or even trying to add up marks of a faculty who can give me a fair competition in handwriting

5.12. Its not often when you practice a typical Bitch Snap or sit in a cosy union room discussing the supernatural with strangers yet feel wanted...

5.13. Its not often when a mis-understanding of the extremint of being a member from a rival gang is as easily sorted as a walk down Jessore Road and into a Durga Puja Pandal. Thank you Ritwik...

Beche Thakar Gaan

A Different Feel by Osibek Pal on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2:50pm  To, Manimanjari Sengupta THIS IS NOT A TRANSLATION OR AN INTERPRETATION OF THE SONG, ITS THE ENGLISH VERSION , OF " BECHE THAKAR GAAN" ORIGINAL VERSION BY ANUPAM ROY, WRITTEN IN THE SAME THEME, HOWEVER THERE ARE SOME OBVIOUS DIFFERENCES IN THOUGHT, FOR THE SAKE OF RHYME SCHEME, LET ME KNOW HOW YOU LIKE THIS VERSION...   Force me to forget a paintbrush..  And learn just light and dark..   Remember ,I wont comply...  Wont Pragmatise life, if you ask...     Banish me from your life's tell tale...  I wouldn't complain.... But ask me to justify my love...   I wouldn't , not if I am slain..     Cause, I have seen it all, known it all...  Quick sand, is not just for the beaches...  It has drained life, breath, blood and love,  let alone petty riches..     Cause, I have seen it all, known it all, ti...

A Blessing In Disguise

Across the streets he was pacing away…dodging all those passer bys…Peopl e watching in amazement...What’s come over this boy today …The tiny limbs covered very sm all distances..yet he was running…panting , sweating profusely…but he was happy today , very happy….The chemists shop was still a couple of crossings away…But he seeme d possessed… The rugged clothes waving in the fury o f his flight… The hawkers were calling him…”Where are you going “? But he seemed too much in haste to bother….’Dua’, A Ble ssing was too happy today…. The fourteen year old had got his first s alary…One thousand rupees…He had enough to buy the bottle of medicine for his ailin g mother…. What an irony in the name itself…May be all the little he had…the only thing m issing was a Blessing itself…. “Ma, Moi tonic aichi !” She turned from the bed, weak and looked at her little..he was all she had…She had lost everything from her husband to her house , wealth everything had been snatched from her...

Just forget It!

Yippee! I have seemingly discovered one more truth about life..You might just say...hey this boy is crazy..how come he realises something everyday...But its not that..it just a self realisation that i quite excited about... I have been officially warned a large number of times to control my over exuberant side..remember writing 5oo lines on an occasion in school for being over enthusiastic...but ever since I have learnt to do it in a wiser way..or So as i call it... Now coming back to the point...As I said i have realised something.... Now i need to give a situation.... Its about a someone...who notices nothing in a mirror but himself...Of couse one would say..what else do you see in a mirror...But i have realised that there are many things that one can actually see, in the mirror... Its no more of "Mirror mirror on The Wall...Who is most Beautiful of them all" but its more of the transition that man or woman has over age.... How different a man or woman can become with every...
